BOARD GAME ELEMENTS
Player Pieces - Play as one of eight historical characters including Napoleon, Gandhi and Elizabeth I
Question Cards - One player reads out the question revealed by the card holder. Everyone hears the question and has 30 seconds to write down their answer. The nearest year to the one at the base of the card wins a token.
Cardholder - Question cards are stored here. The player who won the previous round takes the cardholder, rolls the dice and moves to the next space, then pulls back the strip with the same colour to reveal a question.
Sand Timer (30 seconds) - The Reader turns over the sand timer as soon as they have finished reading out the question to the players. Everyone must write down their answer before the timer runs out!
Tokens - Win the round and you win one or more tokens. Whoever has the most tokens at the end of the game wins, but remember – you can lose tokens as well as win them!
Time Cards - Be the first to shout ‘Time!’ in any round and use a Time card to get extra clues. Players start with four, and collect more as you move round the board.
Timeline Answer Sheet - Write your team’s answer year here. Use the timeline at the top of the answer sheet to help you.
Mini-Rules - Quick rules to start playing within minutes and a guide to the board 'What If I Landed On..'
About Time Board - Players move around the board winning tokens and possibly losing them. If you get to the Centre of the board and win a round, the game is over. Whoever has the most tokens wins - not necessarily the team in the centre!
Dangers on the board:
Duel - Challenge another player to a Duel. Whoever’s answer is closest takes half of the other players tokens (rounded down)!
Plague - If you land on the Rat half of your tokens go into the Pot. You can win them back only if you win the round, otherwise they go to the winner!
Highway Man - Steal three tokens from a team of your choice, if they have less than three tokens, take them all!
HOW TO PLAY
Play in teams or as single players. Each team picks a historical character to play as, which is placed on the 'Start' squares.
Place a ‘1’ token from the bag into the Pot and deal four TimeCards to each team.
To start the game the youngest player rolls the dice and moves their Character onto the board.
They read the question from the Cardholder matching the colour of the space they landed on and turn over the sand timer.
Every team takes part in every round except for Duels, so teams have 30 seconds to guess the year and write it on their Timeline Answer Sheet.
Once the sand has run out, the Reader removes the Question Card from the Cardholder and reads out the year from the bottom of the card.
Teams read out their answers starting from the left of the Reader. The team whose guess is closest to the correct answer wins the round and takes the token from the Pot. Tokens are DOUBLED for exact answers.
Should two or more teams tie they go head to head in a Rollover. See Page 4 of the Rule Book.
The winner of each round becomes the Reader for the next, rolls the dice, moves and reads the next question. Only winners roll the dice and move around the board!
The first team to shout "TIME!" after the question has been read, in any round gets to play a TimeCard. The Reader can never play one.
When a team reaches the Centre, five tokens go into the Pot. If the team in the Centre wins, the game ends. If not, they go back to the Castle.
The game ends when a team has reached the middle and wins the round, however the winner of the game is the team with the most tokens!
